Fill is in. Now we’re ready for the underground plumbing. We arranged for Ben, the plumber, to come in before the fill was in and compacted, but when he arrived, he said he’d have to come back when the fill was in. Without good compacted fill to lay the pipes on, they would not be properly supported. You can see him explaining the venting system to Harry. The main building drain goes in at the bottom of the frost walls, awaiting hook up to the septic field.
The pipes you see sticking up are bathroom, laundry and kitchen sink drains and vents. In our design we clustered these as closely together as we could to minimize the numbers of pipes needed. Already we are beginning to see the layout of rooms take shape!
The building drain was plugged and water was poured into the system to show the inspector that there were no leaks. The water in the photographed pipe stayed at that level for several days.
