Filter and upper ponds

Filed under: Uncategorized — aroundthebend @ 2:39 pm

In May the pond build started up again.  First we installed a secondary filter.  It will be filled with a snow fence and some floor scrubbing pads to hold beneficial bacteria.  The pond water is pulled down through the gravel and plant roots (primary filter), and some through the skimmer, and then goes through this filter and out into the upper ponds. [Google “skippy pond filter” to find out more.]

Then during June came work on the upper ponds.  Leveling and smoothing the soil to the right depths, building up the gravel bag walls, laying down carpet, then liner, then geotextile, then filling with pea gravel.  Over time all the gravel bags are covered with rock.
